After placing in the top three in a regional competition, five UCA scholars have been invited to compete with hundreds of students from across Mississippi in the Technology Student Association (TSA) State Competition in Tupelo, MS from March 26th-29th! And we need help to get them there!
In order to go, we need to raise $1,500 to cover the cost of hotel rooms, gas, registration fees, meals, and navy blazers for each student (part of the required uniform).
TSA has already been such an engaging and rewarding experience for our students this year, but leaving Hattiesburg, staying in a hotel, attending a large conference, competing against other top students, and exploring a new city…now that’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for them!

Below are more details about what TSA is and how our students have earned this opportunity…
WHAT IS TSA? – The Technology Student Association is a national student-led organization for middle and high school students that enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). TSA’s membership includes over 250,000 middle and high school students in approximately 2,000 schools spanning 48 states. TSA is supported by educators, parents and business leaders who believe in the need for a technologically literate society. Student members apply and integrate these concepts through intracurricular activities, competitions, and related programs.
HOW OUR UCA STUDENTS EARNED A SPOT –– This year, our oldest UCA Scholars formed their own TSA Club and they have worked hard! They were given the opportunity to participate in regional competitions including Problem Solving, On Demand Video, Technology Quiz Bowl, Photographic Technology, and Extemporaneous Speech in February with other students across the Southern Region of Mississippi. To our surprise, UCA placed TOP THREE in all of their events, including 1st the the video competition. Now, they are invited to compete at the state level against other students in Mississippi.
